Developing Self-Control by Rick Warren
Today's Devotional is based on this passage:
"Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control" (Proverbs 25:28 NIV).
Self-control brings with it the good feeling of competency. Like a finely tuned precision automobile, your life stays on course with the slightest touch of steering. The results of self-control are confidence and an inner sense of security.Self-control and self-discipline are also key factors in any success you hope to have in this life. Without self-discipline, you are unlikely to achieve anything of lasting value.The apostle Paul realized this when he wrote,
"Every athlete in training submits to strict discipline, in order to be crowned with a wreath that will not last; but we do it for one that will last forever" (1 Corinthians 9:25 GNT).Olympic athletes train for years in order to have a chance to win a brief moment of glory. But the race we are running is far more important than any earthly athletic event. So self-control is not optional for Christians.How do we gain true self-control?Admit your problem.
The starting point for developing self-control is to face what God has already said about me: I am responsible for my behavior.James 1:14 (PH) says, "A man's temptation is due to the pull of his own inward desires, which can be enormously attractive."Do you realize what that says? It says you do things because you like to do them! When I do something I know is bad for me, I still do it because I like to do it. I want to do it; it's an inner desire.
Do you want more self-control? Admit you have a problem and be specific about it. Begin praying specifically about your problem areas.Put your past behind you. Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV) says, "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal..."This verse exposes a misconception that will keep you from gaining self-control: Once a failure, always a failure.Failure in the past does not mean you'll never be able to change.
Focusing on past failures, however, does guarantee their repetition. It's like driving a car and looking in the rearview mirror the whole time. You're going to collide with what's ahead of you.Ask God to help you put your past behind you.

马大学园交流空间校友会（UM CLC Alumni）是一个为了联系及装备毕业生,以共同在职场上为主完成文化及福音使命的毕业生团契。我们希望可以联系与组织马大毕业的基督徒，在马来西亚的社会里发挥做盐做光的功能。除此之外，我们也以毕业生的角色继续支持大专事工。
2009年alumni主要要达到的目的：
· 先把毕业生联系起来
· 对文化使命有初步的认识
· 建立个人对职场与文化使命的负担

I am here representing the UM CLC Alumni to say thank you regarding the offering that you have given to the UM CLC mission that was carried out last December. For your information, this in the summary of the offering.
Total offering collected : RM 650
Offering given to CLC mission trip: RM 300
Total offering remaining : RM 350
There is a balance of RM350, the committee members decide to use the money to support another event, which is a Theology Talk by Rev. Dr. Lee organise by the UM CLC Alumni. Details as follow:

你们的生命鼓励了我们在籍的学生，让我们看见神的伟大，更让我们看见前面的路已经有一群Senior为我们做了美好的见证。这条路不会是一条平坦的路，但却不是一条最难的路，因为有神在我们当中，成为我们的元帅。阿门。一生的IFC（基督影响者）不是一刻的决志，乃是一生的决定，决定时时遵神的道。

感谢神，一班弟兄姐妹的看见而成立这Alumni小组。毕业过后一直怀念着以前在校园里一起为主的使命而一起努力，因为工作的忙碌而使到那起初的爱心渐渐消失了。我相信经过这Alumni，我一定会再次寻回那起初的爱心，为主的工我们一起努力。Gambate！加油！从新出发。

心里对圣经形容天路为“窄路”时，非常有感触。窄路是寂寞的，艰辛的，不多同伴的。。。。。。
但这一切都的安慰，因为神让我有你们这些同路人！让我们共同抓紧神的应许前进！让我们共同经历神是何等真实的神！阿门。

但那等候耶和华的，必从新得力。他们必如鹰展翅上腾，他们奔跑却不困倦，行走却不疲乏。
加油！！我立志在6/4-5/6这段期间每天花5分钟时间为UM CLC Alumni Fellowship祷告。愿神赐福你们。

虽然这Alumni group蛮新，但我相信上帝必会为我们开路，引导我们。万事靠着上帝，万事都能做，所以让我们一起并肩作战走过着整个过程。
